Eco
At Merrow Schools Federation, our Eco Club is a vibrant group of enthusiastic pupils dedicated to promoting sustainability and environmental awareness within the school and local community. The club provides a platform for students to express their ideas and have a real voice in shaping eco-friendly initiatives. Our pupil-led approach empowers children to take ownership of projects such as the school’s wildflower garden, raised garden beds, and the creation of a wildlife pond - each designed to foster biodiversity and offer hands-on learning about nature. Ambassadors from every classroom ensure that eco-conscious thinking is shared school-wide, bringing fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the club's activities.
We also take our green initiatives beyond the school grounds. Each year, our Eco Club members visit the local community garden, where they learn from experts and help nurture the garden’s growth. A highlight for many students is our annual Eco Day at the cathedral, where schools from across the region come together to share ideas and celebrate their efforts to protect the environment. Through these experiences, our pupils develop a deep respect for the natural world, while gaining practical skills that they will carry with them for life.
